Affix Errors Analysis at Morphological Level in the Editorial Column of Kompas Newspaper

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze and interpret language errors, especially at the morphological level contained in the editorial of the Kompas newspaper edition 01 november to 05 november 2022. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used are documentation and hermeneutic techniques. The studied data were documented and interpreted by means of reading, recording, identifying, concluding and grouping based on the use of the morphological level. The data for this research is sourced from the editorial of Kompas newspaper. Language errors, especially the morphological level, found in the editorials of the Kompas newspaper include the level of errors in the use of inappropriate affixes, omission of affixes, especially the omission of prefixes, suffixes, and confixes. Based on the errors that the researchers found in the editorials of the Kompas newspaper, the researchers gave suggestions for the authors to pay more attention to the writing of Indonesian language rules, especially in the study of morphology. Because, with good and correct Indonesian writing guidelines, it can facilitate understanding for readers of the next edition of the newspaper.
